The comprehensive Market and Technology Report from the first phase of the FERA project has been released, coordinated by ITA with contributions from IPT, ISI Laser, Fraunhofer IPK, and 26 companies within Brazil’s automotive value chain. This pivotal study assesses the current utilization of Additive Manufacturing (AM) by Brazilian and German companies in the Tool & Die Making sector and explores future business models leveraging AM technologies.

The study, executed by Fraunhofer IPK with support from VDWF, ABINFER, and ITA, reveals critical insights into potential applications, cost drivers, and industrial challenges in adopting AM technologies from the perspectives of both countries.

As the initial phase concluded successfully in December 2023, the FERA project is set to enter its second phase. Six RTOs and 29 companies will continue their efforts to industrialize additive manufacturing further, aiming to boost productivity and develop new feedstocks utilizing Brazil’s rich raw material resources.
